ABOUT
Established by Alesia Sirokina in 2020, Square in Circle is renowned for lighting designs that bring together the rigour of geometry with the poetry of the figure-in-motion.

Dance and movement have informed many of Sirokina’s designs: the 1922 Bauhaus ballet by
Oskar Schlemmer was an early inspiration for the brand, from which its first design emerged – the emblematic ‘Dance of Geometry’ – and it is a theme that continues to develop through her work.

Playing with ideas of symmetry and asymmetry, flatness and depth, Square in Circle produces designs that are complex yet understated, using a pared-back vocabulary of shapes and materials.

Each piece is an ever-changing composition with parts that seem to move in relation to the
viewer, in a dance of sorts…

Geometry and dance, levity and gravity, movement and stasis – each composition is the result of opposing forces, in perfect balance.
Renowned for designs that draw upon the elegance and logic of geometry, there is also a nod to the unexpected: be it a charmingly asymmetrical structure; a surprising proportion; a sudden transformation or moment of reveal.
