Inspired by the Bauhaus-era ‘Pole Dance’ by Oskar Schlemmer, the Pole Dance pendant lamp reimagines the lines and angles created by the dancer – whose arms, legs and torso were accessorised with long poles, thus exaggerating the body’s lines and movement.
From a central pole comes a horizontal branch that is finished with a large globe-shaped light - half frosted glass, half brushed brass. From this branch comes another, a diagonal line that slopes downwards, in the opposite direction - passing back through the central trunk to emerge on the other side, where it is finished with a small glass orb.
Asymmetric yet beautifully balanced, the piece recreates the same sense of graceful motion as Oskar Schlemmer’s avant-garde performance.
